Getting the Most From Your Facial
A little preparation before your appointment, and a little care afterward, both help your skin get the most from every treatment.
Before Your Visit
- Arrive with a clean face if possible, though this is not required
- Share any recent changes to your skin, medications, or products you are using
- Let Noreen know about any sensitivities, allergies, or recent professional treatments
- Please self-screen for illness before your visit and reschedule if you are unwell
After Your Treatment
- Your skin may look slightly flushed right after treatment — this is normal and typically settles quickly
- Protect your skin with daily sunscreen, especially in the days following a facial
- Follow any specific home-care guidance given at your appointment
- Give your skin time before introducing new active ingredients
Can I wear makeup after a facial?
Whenever possible, Noreen recommends giving your skin the rest of the day without makeup. If you need to wear it, use clean brushes or applicators and products appropriate for your skin. Aftercare can vary by service, so always follow the recommendations given after your appointment.
Treatment-Specific Care
A few treatments call for their own preparation and recovery. Here is what to know before and after these specific appointments.
DMK Enzyme Therapy
Before Your Appointment
A little preparation goes a long way. The treatment relies on healthy, intact skin to do its work, so the week leading up to your appointment matters almost as much as the session itself.
In the 7 Days Before
- Pause any retinol, retinoids, or exfoliating acids
- Skip strong scrubs and at-home peels
- Stay out of direct sun as much as you can, and keep up with daily SPF
- If you've recently had Botox or filler, give it a full two weeks before treatment
The Day of Your Appointment
- Come with clean skin if possible — no makeup required, I'll cleanse thoroughly before we begin
- Eat something beforehand
- Arrive a few minutes early so we have time to talk through your goals and review your intake form together
Intake Form
Please review and complete your DMK Enzyme consent and health questionnaire before your visit.
Complete Intake Form →Please Let Me Know in Advance If Any of the Following Apply
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Active cold sores
- Recent Accutane use within the last six to twelve months
- Known allergies, including eggs or egg whites
These are important for me to know so we can plan your treatment safely, or reschedule if needed.
During Your Treatment
While your Enzyme Therapy is taking place, you can lay back and relax on one of the lush massage tables — I'll check in with you for the duration of your treatment. I'll activate the enzymes in the room and apply them to your face, neck, and décolletage. During the 45 minutes of active treatment time, you'll feel a small pulsing sensation — this is the effect of the enzymes at work as they help circulate blood and oxygen through your cells.
Over the course of your treatment, the mask will set hard like concrete, and you may feel some downward pressure — it's for this reason I'll always check in with you. Enzyme masks are applied to more than just your face; expect coverage across your chest, neck, and face.
After Your Treatment
At the end of your treatment time, hot towels are applied to help remove the mask, followed by a moisturizing routine to help hydrate your skin. Due to the increased blood circulation, you'll likely experience some vascular matting — where your blood vessels appear closer to the surface of your skin.
This usually takes some time to recede, and can be covered by a light mineral makeup if needed.
SkinPen® Microneedling
Before Your Appointment
A little preparation goes a long way. The treatment relies on healthy, intact skin to do its work, so the week leading up to your appointment matters almost as much as the session itself.

Complete Intake Form →Please Let Me Know in Advance If Any of the Following Apply
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Active cold sores
- Recent Accutane use within the last six to twelve months
- A history of keloid scarring
- Known allergies to stainless steel, lidocaine, or tetracaine
After Your Treatment
The First 24 Hours
- Leave your skin alone: no washing, no makeup, no skincare products
- Avoid heat in any form, including hot showers, saunas, hot yoga, and intense workouts that cause sweating
- Sleep on a clean pillowcase tonight, and try to keep your hands away from your face
- Some redness, warmth, and a sunburn-like sensation are normal and should ease within a day
Days Two and Three
- Return to a gentle cleanse with lukewarm water, and pat dry
- Apply a mineral SPF every morning without exception, even indoors
- Hold off on active ingredients such as retinol, vitamin C, glycolic acid, and salicylic acid, and any exfoliating products
- Light moisturizer and the post-treatment products you went home with are all your skin needs right now
Days Four Through Seven
- Continue to avoid exfoliation, sun exposure, and heat
- You may notice some light flaking or a sandpaper-like texture as your skin sheds and renews — this is expected
- Resist the urge to peel, pick, or scrub. Let it shed on its own
In the Weeks Ahead
- Results unfold gradually — most clients see improvements in tone, texture, and clarity within two to four weeks, with continued strengthening over the following months as collagen rebuilds
- If a series was discussed at your consultation, your next session is best scheduled four to six weeks from today
